As seen in 5280 Magazine’s current Top of the Town, we are designing and managing the Great Divide Tap Room expansion. Here you see the old floor during demo, and the shiny new floor that will host many more Great Divide Brewery fans — us included!

We had a great time tasting and playing at Eat Denver’s The Big Eat, a gathering of the independent restaurant network. A few of our friends and clients were serving up deliciousness — Snooze, Great Divide, El Camino, and Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizzeria. Read about it here.
The March issue of Denver Magazine has a Behind the Design feature on our very own Melissa Friday. She describes her creative inspirations and reveals her background as a chef. Maybe that’s why she is so passionate about restaurant design — she can design a space from the staff side, as well as the customer’s point of view. Our client, PURE Brand Communications hosted an open house in their new digs. Here you see Gregg Bergan of PURE with Melissa Friday of Xan peeking from the custom conference room door. It was a family affair — with food provided by Snooze and delicious beer poured by Colin Ferguson from Great Divide brewing company, both Xan clients! Check out our PURE project photos here.
We don’t pick things out of catalogs, we design custom pieces. This allows our clients’ brand to be authentic, and creates unique spaces. When we are in the design phase of a project, we typically create renderings to illustrate what the final piece will look like. Here you see our rendering of the Marco’s hostess stand, and then, the final product. We are truly driven by transformation, and prefer to create custom furniture for our spaces.
We were checking the punch list at Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizza’s second location, and were fortunate enough to test the first pizzas! Here you see Mark Dym (Marco) with Xan’s Melissa Friday, and with the first yummy Neapolitan pies, fresh from the imported ovens. We love our clients!
The restaurant opens to the public on February 21st, mangia!
We are heading into the final weeks of installation at Marco’s second location, off I-25 and Dry Creek. Here are some images of the space, can’t wait to try out those new pizza ovens!
If you are in the DU neighborhood, at University and Evans, check out our latest restaurant design — Skew.
Here is an excerpt from MetroMix Denver: “Since Skew hand-crafts little artistic masterpieces, it only makes sense to have a well-designed space to enjoy them in. The modern space that houses SKEW utilizes colors and accents from Asia, but predominantly resembles a chic lounge with modern, ergonomic furniture and house music on the speakers. The environment is intimate and comfortable, yet will certainly accommodate a social atmosphere especially on late nights and weekends.” —Josh Barrett

We are entering the final weeks of construction on Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizzeria’s second location. We are currently waiting to install the floor so the seating can take shape. Here you see the bar location and the double pizza oven location. The space is rough, but stay tuned to see it take shape.
Modern in Denver, a sweet publication devoted to modern design profiled xan creative in their Winter issue. We are very appreciative (thanks William, Aimee and Kristin) and think it captures our brains perfectly. Read the entire article here: Click me!
