Gimme Some Sugar

The pastry chef is Noah French. We wanted the bakery to feel classic with a masculine undertone, a departure from the girlie cupcake trend in bakeries. Classic elements — white marble, walnut millwork, a brown leather tufted wall bench are combined with an industrial vibe. A custom wall covering features industrial illustrations to emulate old fashioned wallpaper, in a saturated, modern, rich color palette.

The mural, painted by Kamla Presswalla, a local Denver artist, along with the reclaimed wood table featuring a repurposed kinetic cast iron base, work together to add warmth and character to the space. The open kitchen adds energy to an otherwise small restaurant. We packed a well balanced punch into this intimate space.

“The one thing I’ve heard countless times from my guests is how they love the design. Xan has done an incredible job capturing my personality — everything from the unique over-sized dining room lights to the custom wallpaper, and the warm wood tones. Melissa and her team kept us involved in every step of the design process. Her knowledge of design and building allowed me to feel confident that the design was in good hands and I trusted her the whole way. They were wonderful to work with and I was never treated like I was ‘just a client’.”
