Illegal Pete’s Final Stretch

We are in the final phase to open Illegal Pete’s on South Broadway. Things are really taking shape, and we expect to open the doors in early July. This location is at Broadway and Alameda. We are enjoying our relationship with Pete Turner, here you see Pete with Xan’s Melissa Friday. We are looking forward to more Illegal Pete’s locations in the future!

Bursting at the Seams at Great Divide

We have spent the last six years transforming every nook and cranny of the Great Divide Brewery building into functional space. Most recently, we reinvented a one-story storage room where the walls were covered in bad graffiti. We added a functional floor, custom staircase, and plenty of windows to create a two-story office space. The existing graffiti was enhanced with new artwork, kind of like a bad tattoo cover up.

Fresh Booths for Vesta Dipping Grill

Vesta Dipping Grill has enjoyed 16 amazing years at the top of the Denver restaurant scene. Xan helped them replace the original booths with something bigger and cozier, without changing the aesthetic. This time lapse video captures our one day installation.

Illegal Pete’s on South Broadway

What could make an Illegal Pete’s fat burrito even better? A new location combined with a music venue! We just got our hands on this building, on Broadway just before Alameda. This Illegal Pete’s will feature a patio twice as big as the restaurant itself, with a proposed bocce ball court, and stage to feature local music. The last photo illustrates the tear down to rebuild this gem, stay tuned for developments and prepare to grab some guac this Summer, 2013.

Bringing Good Eats to RiNo

As you know, we have a love for transforming old crusty buildings, but this one will be from the ground up. We are happy to announce we are working with Denver chef Troy Guard on his Taqueria and Bakery, two different spaces, one new sweet building. Xan is teaming up with Tres Birds Workshop. These folks do cool stuff, and this pairing should prove to be tasty. The construction fence is up in the RiNo neighborhood. Be patient, we plan to make it worth the wait!

Under the Sun Pub in Boulder Opens in January

We love our Mountain Sun clients — such quality people. This image is of the bar in their new Pub in Boulder, we like to call the design elevated hippie. It was important to stay true to their established brand, but evolve and refine the look. They open in January to the public, come in for a fresh beer. Read more about Under the Sun Pub here.

Thank You City of Denver!

Xan is proud to announce, Ace Eat Serve is the recipient of a 2012 Mayor’s Design Award. This is the 4th MDA that Xan has been blessed to be a part of. We celebrated at the Oriental Theater and Local 46 on the Northwest side of town. Loved seeing all the creativity around our amazing city. More info on the other winners this year.

Mountain Sun’s New Pub in Boulder

We are excited to announce that Xan has been working with the folks of Mountain Sun (they also own Southern Sun, and Vine Street Pub) on their 4th Pub Under the Sun, in Boulder. We have been assigned the creative challenge of evolving the current restaurant’s hippie motif into a more grown up version. Respecting who they are, and the culture they have established, you can still expect finely crafted brews, fresh pub fare, no televisions, and board games to share with friends.

The entry is about to get a big facelift!

Shipping Container Reincarnation-Video

The design concept for our project Ace Restaurant and Ping Pong Hall is reclaimed, recycled, revealed. The old buildings (three total) are full of character, and were stripped down and integrated into one sweet space. We wanted to peel back the layers to reveal the gritty, yet beautiful structure. Many of the finishes in the space are materials that are reinvented and used in a fresh way. This video shows a retired shipping container getting cut down and pulled apart. Can you guess how we will utilize it in the design of the space?

First in our repurposed materials design videos.
